KANGAR, April 20 (Bernama) — Yayasan Tuanku Syed Putra (YTSP) Perlis has allocated RM108,000 in scholarships for eight Form One students from the state who have been selected to pursue their education at Penang Free School (PFS) for the 2024 school session, which will start on Monday (April 22).
In a statement today, YTSP Perlis said that the allocation covers tuition fees and the cost of school supplies throughout the five-year period in PFS.
“The selected students will commence their schooling journey from Form One to Form Five under the YTSP Perlis Special Scholarship Programme,” it said.
The statement also said that Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail attended the symbolic ceremony to hand over the scholarship to the students in the presence of their parents and guardians at the Arau Royal Gallery last Thursday (April 18).
The selected students are Ku Muhammad Adam Hakim, Mifzal Rizqin Mohd Reza, Muhammad Ameer Safwan Mohd Shahril Azuan, Firadz Rifqi Mohd Rusli, Muhammad Khairil Iqbal Abdullah, Mikhail Noh Midzar Hamidzar, Muhamad Ezikrisyah Zinual and Akmal Hafizi Azli Afesham.
The programme is one of YTSP Perlis’ initiatives to provide new educational opportunities for students, particularly those from Perlis, enabling them to acquire knowledge at an advanced level and experience diverse social settings, thus contributing indirectly to the development of a sustainable identity.
“PFS has maintained a longstanding relationship with Perlis, stemming from the fact that three generations of the Jamalullail descendents, namely the late Tuanku Syed Putra, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, and Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, are alumni of the esteemed institution, which is among the oldest English-medium schools in Southeast Asia,” read the statement.
